Our history

Before reunification, the company was part of the Ernst Thälmann Magdeburg Heavy Engineering Combine (SKET). 65% of the production volume of mechanical engineering at the time was dedicated to the production of consumer goods. In addition to sheet metal parts for prams and bathroom scales, many sheet metal parts were produced for the GDR cooker industry. The former stamping shop is now the centrepiece of Umformtechnik Stendal.

In 1992, the company was privatised by the Treuhand and renamed UTS.

Umformtechnik Stendal became a member of the Becker Stahl Service Unternehmungsgruppe and has thus had a successful and reliable partner at its side since its foundation.

It all started with 55 motivated, qualified employees and outdated presses. But the old Erfurt presses were quickly brought up to a modern standard and investments were made in new equipment. Today, UTS has modern eccentric and hydraulic presses with a pressing force of up to 800 tonnes.

The parts produced in the press shop are further processed into components at modern welding and joining workstations. Flexible units and two MAG welding systems with robots are available for this purpose.

For the production of prototypes and small series, there is a production area equipped with modern laser, punching and nibbling systems and press brakes up to 170 tonnes.

UTS has been certified to DIN EN ISO 9001 since 1995 and to VDA 6.1 since 2003. Certification in accordance with IATF 16949 took place in May 2018. These standards are important in order to be able to operate as a supplier for the automotive industry and for the domestic and heating appliance industry. Well-known companies such as VW, Daimler, Bosch/Siemens, Vaillant, Gestamp, etc. are supplied with products from Umformtechnik Stendal.

This is why, from the very beginning, great importance has been attached to employees who are proficient in their profession and have the appropriate skilled labour qualifications in the metal and electrical industry.

The company has been training its own junior staff since 1994 and has had very good experience with this.

In the future, the company will continue to look for young, determined people who want to work in a future-orientated company in both the industrial and commercial sectors.

In order to be able to realise additional or seasonal orders, UTS has been working very well with small, regional temporary employment agencies for years. As a result, some qualified temporary workers have already been given employment contracts within the company.

There is also a fruitful, mutual give and take with the Lebenshilfe facilities in the eastern Altmark region. Disabled people are offered meaningful work by UTS, such as gluing on sealing rubbers or fitting nuts. These additional activities are often essential and time-consuming in car and household appliance assemblies.

Since 1995, the trusting contact with the Lebenshilfe organisations in Stendal/Tangerhütte, Osterburg and the Elbe-Havel workshops in Schönhausen has become an important factor for the UTS production lines, which the Lebenshilfe organisations would not want to do without.

Umformtechnik Stendal has also been present in Slovakia since 2004. Among other things, the Vaillant Group is supplied with stamped parts and assemblies here.

Quality and good management were the decisive factors that enabled UTS to build on its domestic success abroad.

UTS - a company in the heart of the Altmark, which enjoys a good reputation on the national and international market.
